The Challenge: Based on the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, develop a topic that positively impacts Milwaukee to strengthen community and work that connects with the city. This campaign should be a powerful and dynamic call to action- research lenses include economics, the public, and culture. Final deliverables are social media assets and mockups, environmental design for a public space, a motion piece, and optionally, additional assets.

Overview

Our campaign, Empowering Educators, mission is to strengthen Milwaukee’s community through a comprehensive type-centric campaign that inspires our city to feel called to enact change.
Through our research, our group saw an incredible lack of support and recognition for our educators in our local Milwaukee community. Local teachers are overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated for their effort and passion for teaching the community’s youth. Our campaign highlights these educators as the central focus, as we build off of what makes our teachers unique and so significant to the well-being of the city. Our targeted audience is taxpayers, parents of MPS students, local businesses, and the school board & local officials.

The Proposed Petition: We are asking for local support to join us in challenging MPS School Board to change the precedent for the treatment of teachers, by rallying support for petition, spreading awareness of unfair treatment of our teachers, and promoting irreversible legislature that protects teachers presently and in the future. Offer fair compensation for extracurricular activities
Increase paid time off to support our teachers' families and well beings'
Source school supplies from federal budget
Intentionally aiding administrative scheduling process to ensure teachers have time for prep and lunch throughout school day
